Yes – the little word that heals or wounds

The fragile heart’s respite

From friends’ capricious masquerades

That cripple, that entice

Like sleep the weary eyelids shade

From the sun’s taxing rays.

Yes, the word that accentuates

Our deepest joys and fears.
